Simon Besson-Girard graduated!!

Dr. Simon Besson-Girard, the first PhD from Gokce Lab. our gratitude for your artful bioinformatics and genomics alchemy. Your works already echo far and wide!

Our group is moving to the University of Bonn

We are sad to say goodbye to our home for last 5 years @ISD_Research. We are filled with gratitude for the fun collaborations and the alps. And looking forward to start at DZNE-BONN!

Congrats to Peter Androvic & Martina Schifferer

Congrats to Tuğberk Kaya, Lu Liu, and Nicola Mattugini!

We are looking for new team members!

This @LuLiu_Laura's first author paper from our group. She optimised almost every step of our #scRNASeq preparation and put together a step-by-step protocol for artifact free results.

We made the cover!

Our work with Mika Simons Lab, " White matter aging drives microglial diversity" is the Neuron cover. The cover is an illustration of the myelin whorls. So much fun to put this cover together with amazing @garipay

Gokce lab at ISD and Simons lab at DZNE identified white matter-associated microglia (WAMs), which form in a TREM2-dependent but APOE independent manner in aging white matter, where they form nodules that are engaged in phagocytosing damaged myelin. Thus, WAMs represent a response required to clear degenerated myelin that accumulates during white matter aging and disease.

ARCHES award for Ozgun

ARCHES award is conferred to internationally renowned young scientists in Israel and Germany with a view to fostering scientific exchange between the two countries. This year’s ARCHES prize, goes to systems biologist Dr. Ozgun Gokce of the ISD and Prof. Asya Rolls of Technion University in Israel.

Coronavirus: Neuropilin-1 could open the door to the inside of the cell

We are proud to be part of the international research team, which identified neuropilin-1 as a factor that can facilitate SARS-CoV-2 entry into the cells’ interior. Our  findings are now published in the journal “Science”.

We welcome our new lab member
